•The Waimairi County Council rnefc yesterday. Present: Messrs S. A. Staples (chairman), S. Bullock, F. Sisson, G. E. Curry. J. Fitzpatrick, T. l>. Boag. J. Lee, R. "VV. Hawke, \V. Nicholls, and W. P. Spencer. Tho financial statement showed t-b© various ridings to be in tho following positions:—Styx, debit balance, £1399 16s sd; Avon, debit balance, £590 8s 2d;, Ha re wood, debit balance, £426 Ws 8d; Wairarapa, debit balance, £498 7s 10d; Fendalton, debit balance, £350 15s 4d; Marshland, debit balance, £122 11s 2d; Belfast, debit balance, £329 4s od; Papanui, debit balance, £409 12s 6d; Riccarton. debit balance, £71 Ok od; Middleton, debit balance, £831 15s 3d. Receipts for tho month totalled £1271 11s 6d. The debit balance at the bank was £7982 2s 7d. Building permits issued during December, 1914, totalled cix, of a. value of £2823, two being over £1000.
A letter was received from tho Christchurch City Council stating that as compaints had been received that stock was allowed to wander at largo in the St. Albans district, especially in North Richmond, Messrs P. Swaaey and A. McDonald had been appointed rangers in the district, subject to the concurrence of the County Council. The appointments were confirmed.
Tho engineer reported that the formation of Waiwetu street extension had been carried out and partly s hingled, the concrete channelling was almost completed, and tho top-dressing of the paths in the Fendalton Joan area was in hand. Tlie proposed well on4,he North road foi watering facilities had been deferred. The report also stated that the Tramway Board proposed to extend the present lino for a short distance along the Burnsido road and leave tho trailer and motor on this extension. The report was adopted, and Messrs Staples. Bullock, Boag, and the engineer were appoiuted to visit the road at the proposed extension, and decide as to the necessity or otherwise of widening, tho whole matter being left in their hands, with power to act. . *■
