HEAVY RAINS ON THE WEST COAST,
OOXSpERABLE DAMAGE

HOKITIKA. January 11. The heavy rain of the past few , days has caused considerable damage in the Kanieri Lake and Humphreys districts. On Saturday night tho Ross Soldfields water-race was carried away for several chains by a billshdo, and will take several days to repair. Meantime the electric power is stopped. The borough water nines wore also earned away, as the result of the approaches to the bridge at Coal Creek bang washed out. They were renewed early this morning. On the Blueepur-Htun-phreys road considerable damage 13 reported to have been done to the roada and culverts.
