■_ « ; — RECHABITE LODGE. At the laet meeting of the Pbillipetown Rechabite Tent, tho candidates were initiated. An official.visit was paid by the l'xovincial Officers. Those who attended were — P.C.R. Bro. Leaver, D.P.C.K. Bro. Williams, Provincial Secretary Bro. Haseall, T.G.I.Z. Bro. Saundere and T.S.F.B. Bro Speire. The Provincial Secretary, after congratulating the Tent on its rapid increase of membership, referred to the progress which the Order was making in Canterbury, and etated that it was gratifying to learn that the Rechabites were throwing their influence into the movement to secure national prohibition. The St." Albans Bechabit-e Tent met on Thursday. Report was made ♦-hat all Tents bad decided, to take part in the prohibition demonstration to be held on Decenibor sth. Sick pay was passed to seven brethren. The business eheet of the District Meeting, to bo held at Invorcargill, was received and allowed to stand ovor till next meeting. Members agreed to accept an invitation to attend a, social in connexion with the Philipson Tent. At the conclusion of business, "Question-box" ' wae introduced, when some spirited discussions took place on topical subjects. EICCARTON CITIZENS' ASSOCIATION. There has been a feeling arrxngot the residents of Riccarton for some considerable time past that it would be in tho best interests of the district if .a Citizens' Association was formed, and ' this took definite shape- on. Monday, when a large and enthusiastic meeting woe held in the Town Hall. Mr A. Hampton occupied the chair. A motion to form" a Riccarton Citizens' Association was carried unanimously, and an executive committee wae cci up. Mr A. Ford being appointed secretary. The. question of drawing up regulations trae left in the hands of the executive. A vacancy on the Riccarton Borouph Council caused by the retirement of Councillor Foster. was discussed, and it wae unanimously decided to recommend the citizens of Riccarton to support the candidature of Mr F. Gcorgo for the Tacant seat.
