Chiistchurch defended the eastern end. The referee awarded a scrum five yards out, and Bush lost a certain try by refusing to pass. The Christchurcb forwards got moving;, and from a rush tho baii was punted high into tho air. Jormyn tnisfielded, and, following up fast, fell on the ball, and scored: W. P. Guiney converted. Christchurch 5, 'Varsity nil. Almost i immediately, TV. P. Guiney iiecured at I half-way, .-ynd scored a pretty try, which ;he converted. Christchurch 10, 'Varsity nil. 'Varsity set up an attack, but tho Christ-church backs regained much ground by a good passing bout, in which Macdonald sroiled tho positiou by passing wildly. Both umpires signalled it as such, but the rofr.ree disallowed it. Shortly after. McDonald intercepted a pass at half-way, and scored under the posts. W. P. Guiney converted. Christch-arch 18, 'Varsity 5. Play was in mid-field when time sounded, leaving Christchurch the winners. Mr G. Matthews was referee.
