WAIKARI.
At Scargill on September _oth, the A. G. Forbes and Mrs Forbes were-entertained at tlii afternoon" tea. Mr George Buss, on.behalf of the subscribers, presented the guests with a valuable Kaiapoi ,rug, and wished them bon voyage. Mr Forbes suitably replied. * A cordial Vote of thanks was conveyed to Mr-and Mrs Tobeck. in whose house the function took place. At the W aikari Parish room on September 21st, there was a large gathering for a like purpose. . On behalf of the subscribers Dr..Little presented the guests with a purse of sovereigns. Mr Forbes replied appropriately. There, is regret at the departure of Mr and Mrs Forbes. ; Mr Forbes has for five years occupied the cure of Waikari, arid, with his family, is now leaving for England. ; Hearty good wishes for thc guests: were freely expressed, with a hopo for'their return at some future date. - ; . "
