JOTTINGS FOR FARMERS.
Mr Thomas Logan, of Otania, near Gore, the well-known Clydesdale breeder, has sold two two-year-old fillies by Baron Bold and Royal Derby respectively, to Mr Ernest 'Short, of Feilding. The price, is stated to ,be close'on 500 guineas.
Unsettled and sliowery weather continues in the Malvern district, strong gales prevailing almost-daily. Last Friday and tN.turday nor"-we_t gales blew incessantly, and" were followed by rain, .137 inch being registered at Darfield. Fairly heavy snow fell on the ranges, cooling tho atmosphere to such an extent that on Sunday night a very severe frost was experienced, the rime on the grass on Monday being almost as heavy as is usual in midwinter. Another nor'-west gale followed on Monday, .lasting till about midnight, when the wind shifted to the sou-west. The rainfall for September registered 1.74 inches, as against .-".10 inches for thc same month last year. • ;
