Messrs Giltx\rt Anderson and Co., writing ou August 23rd, say : — "Trade during the past week has been very slow for mutton and lamb; the bad weather for this time of the year being, all against the sale of the latter.
"Home Grown—Beef 6d to Bd, mutton GJd to 7Jd, legs 7d to Bd, ewes 4£d to 5Jd (Dutch Cid to 7d), lambs 7d to BJcl, Scotch Hill lambs 6d to 7d, (Dutch Old to 7id). "Chi.led Beef —Very poor trade hinds down i<l to jd per lb, 4id to sid, fores 32d to 3*d. "Frozen Beef —Good trade during the wpek, prices about the same. New Zealand hinds 3Jd, fores 3d, Plato hinds 32d to 3Jd, fores 3d. "Frozen Mutton —Very firm, especially ewes, which have been making prices within-an 4d per-lbcto f.a.q. mutton, Canterbury 4Jd for heavy weights, in, short supply to 4id, 4§d for light weights, best North Island mutton 4Jd to 4i~d>, ordinary 4d to <Ud. '•Frozen Lambs —-Lower prices- anticipated. Canterbury's however, sell fairly well at s£d for under 3Glb, 5 9-16 d for 361b to 421b, and 5 1-lGd for 421b to 501b. Best North Island and Southlands at id lower. Ordinary North Islands very slow sale at 5 9-1 Gd for under 361b. Australians sid to 5Jd.", ■■ ■
