(MESS ASSOCIATION TELKGRA.M.) WELLINGTON, September 30. The following is a copy of tho Higb Commissioner's cable,, dated London, September 28th. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot.): — Mutton—The market is steady, and supplies will be moderate. Holders are firm. Canterbury, 4Jd; North Island, 4Jd. Lamb—The market is slightly weaker, with less demand. Canterbury, 5Jd; other than Canterbury*. .■4d. Beef—Tho market is quiet, but firm. Frozen meat arrivals are heavier than usual. New Zealand hinds, 3Jd; fores. 3Jd. ' Butter —The market remains firm at the last quotations. New Zealand. 1225; Australian, 114s; Danish, 131s; Siberian, 110s Cheese —Tho market is quiet, with no alteration m prices. Canadian, Gss Gd; New Zealand, G7s. Hemp—The market is very firm, and tbere is a general and active demand New Zealand good fair grade, £28 os; fair grade. £27; fa:r current Manila. £28 15s for all positions. Output from Manila for the week, L' 7.000 bales. Wool—The market is strong. Kauri Gum- —The market is firm, nnd tho demand continues. Prices have slightly advanced for all grades. Dark brown selected, re-scraped, £7 to £8; thrr-e-quarter scraped, 85s to 103s; chips (drossy), 30s to 455; re-scraped pale amber, £12 to £14; three-quarter pale scraped, 150s to 170s; diggers' chips (good), 50s to GOs. Two hundred and twenty-eight cases were offered, and about 120 sold. The stock oa August 31st, 1912, was 375 tons. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated September 23th :— 'The wool sales continue firm,. and prices are rather higher."
