(SPECIAL TO "THE PRESS.") INVERCARGILL, July 14. Oats. —Tho condition or* the produce markets shows no sign of improvement, although-a slight advance in-the .price ot oats has taken place during the week. A grade Gartons are quoted at up to ls lo_d per bushel, B grade ls 9d to ls 9_d, Sparrowbills, _d per bushel lower. Badly weathered samples aro now offering at much lower figures.

Wheat.—The' market is slightly low.r all round. Millers are only operating in a hand-to-mouth-way, and farmers aro inclined to follow suit. Fowl wheat is offering fairly freely, but the market is weaker compared .with a" week or so rack. The price oi' first-class milling Velvet is 3s Od, Tuscan' and Red Straw from 3s 2d to 3s 4d, with lower grade grain much,below that figure. Chaff. —Thc chaff market has declined, and very little business Ls [Kissing. Prime Oaten Sheaf Chaff is quoted at from £3 to £3 os 0.t.c.5., according to quality .and distance from town.

Potatoes.—There has been a revival in the potato market, and prices have advanced accordingly. I'esterday's prices o.t.c.s. were as high as £4, butter prime table Up-to-Dates a trifle better than that could be obtained. Sheep.—The live stock market, during tho past week has taken a rather animated turn, the exceptional demand from Canterbury and North Otago having still further depleted flocks. Of course a bad spring will ease prices . to a certain extent, bui indications point to an early season. Butchers have also been active during thc week, looking out for any lines of good cattle, and prices for this class of stock havo held firm. Prices may bo quoted: Butchers' heavy weight wethers, 19s to 20s; lighter, 18s 6d to 19s; fat ewes (butchers), 14s to 15s. freezing 12s 6d to 13s 6d; fat lambs, oid no to 421b: o.d second and overs. Store* Sheep: Two-tooth ewes, ia* to 19s: four-tooth. 19s to £1; sixtooth, 18s 6d to 19s; mixed ages, 16s 6d to 17s; sound-mouth paddock ewc3, 15s 6d to 10s- broken mouth ewes, 10s to lis; ewe hoggets, 14s to 14s 6d;
