LEESTON.
There was a large attendance and a very good yarding of stock on Friday at tho Leeston sale. The salo was a good one all round, the prices obtained nt recent sales for practically all classes of stock being well maintained. Tho demand for dairy cattle was very spirited, and 'some exceedingly satisfactory prices were obtained. Fat sheep and pigs wero firm in values, and store stock of all kinds met with a good demand. The •'-. entry of store pigs was very small, but tho demand was brisk and prices were good. Tho yarding ot sheep was small, as is usual at this timo of the year. Fat lambs mado 15s 7d, fat ewes 10s Id, fat wethers 16s lOd, forward ewes, lis.
Tho entry of fat pigs totalled 153, a fair proportion beim. porkers. Largo choppers sent in by Mr John Lowry made £5 ss, others made up to £4 13s. A fino pen otbaeoners, sent in by Mr A. McPherson, brought £3 12s Od; other baconers 53s to 645, equal to about 5d per lb; porkers, from 435, equal to sid to s_d per lb. The store pen contained only about fifty head. The largest mado up to 28s, and small, 12s 3d to 'J6s. '-■<■- -■' -■ ( _ Thero was keen competition for a line of dairy cows sent in by Mr Groves, and prices were:—£ll ss, £8 15s, £12, £6 10s, £11 ss. £10 10s, £7, and £9 10s. Sixteen heifers ranged from £o os to £6 ss. Other heifers made to £9 os; a cow and vealcr, £7; and store cows from £4.
There is evidently a good demand for ponies, for a small nine-year-old mate sold, under competition, at- £10 10s.
