The weather conditions during tho Fast week have been derided ly wintry, n that short, space of time there havo been three furious sou-west storms. Tuesday's storm brought very cold weather, as is evidenced by the snow on the hilltops of Banks' Peninsula, particularly on Cooper's Knob and the western part of Mt. Herbert. Snow i-i also to be scon low down on the slopes of tho Southern Alps. Many threshing mills, busy threshing peas, have been thrown idle for a few days till the stacks dry. The damp weather is burini* a bad effect on thn potato crop, which is being dug now. Blight and other potato diseases have manifested themselves in some crops. On Wednesday morning early, one was mado conscious of tho fact that the shooting season had begun by tho continuous fusilade of guns snapping on all sides.
