FIRES

A four-roomed house in Dickens .street. Addington, owned and occupied s by }Irs Mary Harnett, was completely gutted by fire at 4.30 a.m. yesterday. Mr Harnett was' the only occupant at the time. Mrs Harnett and family having left on Monday for Pleasant Point, j There were no fires lighted in tho build- ! ing on Monday, and the origin of tho j outbreak is unknown. Mr Harnett j was wakened by the smoke and flames, j and managed to escape only with tho j blankets he was sleeping iv. Tho furniture, which was not insured, was destroyed. The insurance, jf any, on the building, is not ascertainable.
