Tho Autumn Meeting of the New Brighton Trotting Club was concluded on Saturday in chilly weather, a cold sou-west wind and a steady rain making matters decidedly unpleasant for spectators. There was a fair attendance, and good lield3 contested the majority of tho evenis. The totaiisator investments wero £7793 10c, making £14,979 103 for tho Meeting. Bold Maid showed tee way out of tho straight tho first time, closely followed by Royal Testa, whilo Prince Warbeck was going ralher unsteadily. Geo Whin began frnartly, and during tho first milo had Poriri, who was not trotting kindly, as his nearest attendant, with Prince Raynard. Wallet, and Lord Cardigan following in order. Going along the buck in tho second mile. Wallet ran into second place, Gee Whii still leading at the end oi tho second mile, with Lord Cardigan in third place, and P. C. Redwood next. Tho last named tired before half the last circuit had been covered, and Gee Whiz and Wallet drew away from the rest. In a good raco Gee Whiz won by six lengths from Wallet, who was two lengths in front of Toa Tree, with Lord Cardigan fourth, and Benmoro fifth. Time, 7min alscc.

Mr fc>ol Green (according to a Melbourne cablegram) intends to send Comedy King to tho stud at tho end of the current Y.R.C. meeting. On Saturday morning the grandstand of the Wnnnanui Jockey Club had a narrow escape from destruction by a fire, which started in the' kitchen, directly beneath the grandstand. Not much damage was done, however, and a plentiful supply of water soon put tho building out of danger.
