The Christehurch Meat Company, Islingtw. ump.oyeea, and CUv Council s abattoir employees heid an excursion to Kaiapoi on Saturday, a special train talcing ou: between 800 and 900 people. They wore aciompamod by the Stanmore Band. in th 3 Park, sports were held up to 1 p.m., when heavy rain set in, and tho company ad;ourned to tho Drill Hail, where games and dancing wero kep tup till tho time lor Ine departuro of tho tram. Ono Mile B:cyc!o Race: MoKnight 1, McTavirh 2, McTeaguo 3. Two Mile Bicycle Race: J. Te.igue 1, A. Parker 2. J. MofJatt 3. Men's Raco—W. Kerr 1. J. McCormick 2. Married Women's Race: Mrs Muir 1, Mm Stephens 2. Single Women's Race: Miss Richards 1, Miss McCiuakey 2. Stooping: McCluskcy 1, O. Lennox 2, W. Bigham 3. Youths' Race: McKnight 1, Freeman 2. Visitors' Handicap: Fisher 1, Mollov 2. A number of very good prizes were given, and very generous provision was mide for the children. Mr W. Murray was chairman of the committee, and Sir W. Macfarlane was secretary.
