FROZEN MEAT MARKET.
Messrs Gilbert Anderson and Co., writing on October 28th, say:—"Dull trade with little demand. Home and foreign supplies not excessive, but prices weaker; mutton an _d lower, lamb an id to a Jd. lower. Beef is also in buyers' favour. Chilled beef excessive, heavy supplies, with a dull demand and lower' prices, fores 2fd, hinds 3id. Frozen beef no demand, prices an Jd lower, while there are considerable stocks bought at high prices. With heavy shipments to arrive the future.of the beef trade is uncertain. Frozen mutton and lamb stocks are extremely light, stocks ot lambs being virtually exhausted. Prices for Canterbury and North Island mutton are- unchanged. With large shipments of Plates prices are l-16th to an |d lower, affecting Australians to the same extent. Lamb quotations are nominal, owing to the absence of supplies. New Zealands are an _d to Jd higher owing to the difficulty of obtaining supplies."
