NOTES.
It is understood that Full Sail has been sold to go to Australia, and probably will not be a starter in the C.J.C. Easter Handicap. Taskmaster has been withdrawn from the C.J.C. Great Autumn Handicap.
'There should be some interesting racing witnessed at Waimate to-day, for amongst the horses set down to compete are a number from Riccarton •with first-class credentials, as -Bell as several Otago trained ones. There will be a good-sized contingent of Canterbury sportsmen present at the fixture, but thore would be more still were the train arrangements convenient.
The Alford Forest Racing Club's Annual Meeting will be held to-day. It is unlikely that Alawa, Trafalgar or Maltine will be seen oat at the A.J.C. Meeting. All three are suffering from recently sustained injuries. The English-bred stallion Carman by Locobalchee —Happy D;iy. was sold oy auction recently in Melbourne for eOOgs. Excellent acceptances have been re-
ceiveel for the Oxford Jockey Club's Meeting, which takes place on "Saturday - next. , _ . Thus an Australian exchange: Princo Foote's Champion Stakes was a record ( in one respect—it was tlie slowest ever run, taking 2miii 12jscc longer than the three miles steeplechase the same afternoon. As tlie first half-mile took 2.12 to cover, the horses could have litt'e morf than walked, and it is said that when they left the straight the first time round some of the patrons of the flat amused themselves by running along, level with the trio and addressing a" few remarks (possibly not flattering) to the respective riders. The latter portion of the journey was run at o cracking pace, and according to all accounts Prince Footo had to bo ridden right out to beat Pendil.
