THURSDAY COMPETITIONS.
The opening matches of the Canterbury Hockey" Association's Thursday Competitions were played , yesterday in Sine weather. Tho following are the particulars of the games: — SENIORS. Playing at Sydenham Pork, Sydenham defeated Drapers by 4 goals to 2. The scorers were:—For .Sydenham. Harrington (2), Free and Howison, and for Drapers, Ritchie and Hulston. Mr R. H. Saunciers wns referee. Hardware had a bye. JUNIORS. At Rangicra. St. Luke's, after an even panic defeated the local t«im by 5 goals to 2. For St. Luke's. C. Smith scored 2 goals, Clark 2, and Brefton 1; H. Seeker and B. Thompson scored, for Rantriora. Mr Lawrey was reforee. Drapers defeated" Bible Class at St. AJbar.s Park by 7 goals to nil. Th<» match between Sydenham and Farmers ended in a tlraw, each side, scoring 1 goal. Armstrong scored for Sydenham, "alid Patterson for Farmers. ■Mr S. W. Mitchell was referee. PRESIDENT'S. Hardware defeated Drapers B at tlve Polo ground by 2 goals, shot by Holland nucl Burgess, to nil. Mr Sharman was reffree. Rongiora forfeited to Drapers A. Sydenham had : a bye. Victoria (indies) defeated Wairere(ladies) by 2 goals to 1. Mr H. Burley was rc-ferec. In the match, Kaiapoi v. Chemists, the former won by 5 goals (E. Haym.in 3, J. Wylie 2) to nil.
