PARISHIONERS' MEETINGS.

ST. LUKE'S CHURCH.

The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Luke's Church was held in tho schoolroom last evening, the. Vacax, K«v. W. Walu«sk»y <aeugwick, over a larger attendance. The. Vicar's and Churchwardens reporte, which.referred with gratification to the life of the Church, were read and received. The receipts for the ! year amounted to £1190 19s lid (including £06 7s 7d brought forward), and the credit balance in the bank amounted to £69 Os 8d at the end of tho year. . . Colonel W. A. Day was re-elected Vicar's Churchwarden, and Mr George Baker was re-appointed Parishioners' Churchwarden. The following were elected to #he vestry:—Messrs k'. A. Cook. Moore, Richards, Allard, Norris. Andrews. Stoward, Cameron, terrier, and E. F. W. Cook. The report of the new Church Buwiing Committee stated that the total amount promised was £6345 ls r 4d, an increase of £2107 los 7d during- the year. Of this amount £5111 8s 4d had been paid, and £5050 was invested on deposit at 4 per cent. JEarly in March Mr H. .S. Richards made a mosi generous offer to tho committee to defray the cost of tho morning chapel in tho north transept, the chapel to bo v memorial to his wife, and to bo known as tho "Sybil Richards Memorial Chapel." This offer was most thankfully accepted by tho committee, and tluotigh it they were able to rocora- I mend the vestry the desirability of j calling for tenders. Tenders for tfco new church had boon received, ■ and would bo dealt with at an early ''date. The ' hopo was expressed that tho parishioners would stand loyally to the Vicar during the time occupied in the demolition of the old church and tho rearing of the new structure. It wa.s decided to send a letter to the Roy. K. K. Mules, who had temporarily assisted the Vicar, expressing appreciation of his services, and wishing him every success in hie work at Otira. Votes of thanks were passed to church workers and officers.
