Tho Thursday competfticTis under the eiispioes of the Canterbury Hockey Association commenced yesterday. The weather, although cold and dull, was ideal for the game and some very keenly-contested matches resulted.

SENIORS. Sydenham had an easy win over Drapers by 7 goals scored , by Dyer (3) Cade - (2), Gray and White, to one scored by Hulstton. Mir E. Elyett was referee. Lyttelton defeated , Addington by 3 goals to one. The scores were—For Lytteltoi*, Wilson, Luxton and Toy; for Addington, J. McCracken. Mr It. H. Saunders was referee. Hardware won from Rangiora by 4 goals to on©. Featherstone and Cowdery (3) scored for Hardware., and N. Jones for Rangiora. Mr Ching ,was referee. JUNIORS. The Drapers A and B teams pltayed b dirawn game, each stide scoring two goals. For the A's, Norrie and Mortland were successful in finding tjho nets, and Arthur and Knowbes for tho . B's. Mr S. W. Mitchell was referee. I Tho Chemists and Hardware teams ■ also played a drawn game, each sid>o scoring one .goal. Tho scorers wore: Chemists. Madden; Ball. Mr Firman was referee. [ PRESIDENTS. ' Hardware and Drapers A played a drawn game. Mr Empson was referee. The Sydenham A defeated] their ii team at Srd-enJiam Park. A match was played at. Spreydon yesterday afternoon between the Avon Ladies' Hockey Club and tho Spreydon Ladies' Hockey Glub, which resulted in a win for the former by three goals (scored by Misses Mclntosh, Weir audi Norman) to nil.
