TEREIBLE ACCIDENTS.
SIGHTSEERS' TRAGIC END
DASHED TO DEATH IN A CHASM
United Piaaa Association—By Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright. (Received July Bth, 9.38 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 8. A party of visitors to Katoomba paid a visit yesterday to viow the wonderfully beautiful sight of th© falls and cascades in a frozen state. A boy named Lannon, 13 years old, crossed a piece of ice about 20 feet square, and then slipped and fell shrieking over the edge into the chasm 200 feet below, and was dashed to death.
A precisely similar fatality occurred in the same spot this morning. A young woman named McAriney, in company with other sightseers, weat out to view th© falls, and it is surmised that the girl went to see the spot -where tho lad fell. She began to slip on the same body of icef and every effort ahe made to regain her footing was unavailing. Although a bystander clutclied at the girl's clothe-) and made an effort to save her, sho disappeared over the brink of the deep perpendicular gully, and wa* hurled to death.
Both bodies were shockingly mut'lated.
