PREFERENTIAL TRADE
THE PRIME MINISTER ON Mlt LYTTELTONS MOTION.
United PTess Association—By Electric IV-legrapk—Copyright. (Received July Bth, -9.18 p.m.) LONDON, July 8. Sir Henry « Campbell-Bannerman, speaking at t ■ National Liberal Club, ridiculed Mr j . ttelton'a censure of tho Government's colonial policy. Their colonial friends were aware that their decision on preferential trad© was a foregone conclusion after the last election. Mr Lytteltons motion deceived nobody, and would only afford the protectionists a cheap advertisement. It will probably stimulate the Liberals to hold the fort for freetrade and press forward for social and political reforms which the colonies already enjoyqd.
