WEST COAST NOTES.

(special to "the pbess.")

GREYMOUTH, July 7. AH tho harbour bars on the West Coast are abnormally low at present. The Greymouth, Westport, and Hokitika harbour entrances are lower than they have been for many years. The West Coast Timber Association had a long interview with Mr Buxton, of the Railway Department, yesterday. The disabilities under which the industry suffers were dealt with, and it is hoped that the complaints made concerninc: tho carriage of timber will be remedied.

The contractors for launching the schooner Eunice are making good progross with the work. Yesterday they shifted the vessel about fifty feet, and she is now well up on the crown of the bank. It is expected the vessel will be broufiht to the wharf within the time stipulated in the contract.
