From a good start Prestonpans was first away, but going out of the straight Lionheart took charge and streaked away with a rapidly-increasing , lead. At the abatto he had an advantage of thirty lengths, with liallabala. South Head and Little Mary as hie closest attendants. The Xew Zealander led into the straight by three-quarters of a furlong, followed by Superstition. Ballabala, and South Head. Ater this Lionheart began to come back to hie field, but going along the river he ngain put more daylight between himeelf and the others. At the bridge Lionheart began to bliow signs that his great buist was having its effect, and botU South H-cod and Superstition be,?an to close up on the leader, Bribery and Solano bending the third division. At the far turn Lionheart sti!l had a lead of five lenjrths but was cut down before reaching the ened«! where the order whs South Head. Bribery, Lion Heart and Superstition. Bribery was first into the straight, and was never aram headed, winning by five lengths. Lionheart feli awßj rapidly, and came home with the last division. Time, Smin 63sec.
