GERALDINE.
The monthly meeting of the Geraldine Ro»d Board wi» bold on Tueeday. Preeent—Messie J. Kelland (chairman), J. M. Barker, and J. Wharton. The chairman was authorised to arrange a conference of local bodies interested to take stem to induoe the Harbour and Charitable Aid Boards to reduce their kriee on local bodies, now that the valuations hare increased. Thirteen ratepayers at Kakahu petitioned the Board to Bare a polling booth at Kakahu school, and to divide the district into wards. Held orer for new, Board to deal with. The overseer reported that the proposed new road through the Geraldine bush would give a grade of 1 in 10, which would not be a satisfactory improvement. The Board agreed that the alteration would be of little benefit, and that they were not justified in ooptrifcuting to the improving of roads inside the borough. The annual meeting of ratepayers was fixed for May Ist, and th« election of a Board for May 2nd. Accounts amounting to £202.16s lid were passed for payment.
