WEST CHRISTCHURCH v LINWOOD.

The match between these teams was brought to a termination at Haglcy Park on Saturday, when thp Westerners won very easily by an innings and 223 nins. On the previous Saturday West OhristchuTch luad batted all the afternoon, Bearing 421 for mue wickets, and on resuming they at once declared their innings oloood. Linwood started their task of attempting to either knock oif the runs, or make a drawn game of it, with Orchard and H. C. Ridley, Malone end Vermcn having charge of the attack. Ridley played a couple of balls from Malone, and he skied the next to prankish at cover point, and retired without scoring. A. E. Ridley then joined his captain, and a fair stand was made, the total being taken to 37 bofore the newcomer was well caught at mid-off for a well got 16. Orchard was out with, the scare at 70, having batted in something like his old style for 34, but none of the others reached double figures, amd the innings closed for the Bmall total of 90. Malone bowled in fine style throughout the innings, talcing eight wickets for 33 runs, wLich was a capital performance considering the wicket was good, and the calSbre of the bateman opposed to him. and the fielding was. good all round. Being 321 runs to the bad, Linwood followed on, and they fared but little better than in their first venture, as batting a man short they were disposed of for 108.
