CASUALTIES.

The Rev. J. Holland, vicar of Kaiapoi, while riding his motor-cycle to Woodend on Wednesday afternoon, near the Borough Reserve, met with a mishap. On© of a mob of cattle collided with the motor, and Mr Holland was thrown on his face, which was much scratched. One of his knees was also bruised, but he was able to return home later on a bicycle. At an inquest held at Timaru yesterday on the body of the young man Lupton. who shot himself on the previous day, the verdict was that deceased took bis life while temporarily insane.
