'Mr Irvine met the members of the Ministerial party, and stated that, in view of the warmly expressed desire that he iihould retain the Premiership, and of Mr (Shiels undertaking to relieve him of some of the duties of Treasurer and other reaponuibilities, he saw his way clear, if rejected, to lead the- Government through Che next election and tlie following Parliament. It is understood Mr Irvine intends to devote a portion of hi* time to practice ut the Bar.
