'Hie annual meeting: of the New Zealand Shipping Company, at which the report and balance-sheet of tlie London Board will be Wad. tafces place to-day. Tenders will be received for stations in Cape Colony by the General Officer Commanding Cape Colony, Capetown; for stations in Natal by the General' Officer commanding Natal District, Pietermaritsburg j for -tat ions in the Transvaal and Orange River Colony by the Director of Supplies, Artillery Barracks, Pretoria, until noon on Tuesday, sth January, for supply-of bread and flour and groceries, and until noon on Hint-day, 7th January, for supply of meat and forage. The stations for which supplies are required are indicated. Forms of tender and conditions of contract con be bad in the colony on application to the Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce, Wellington. An important land sale of the Whataupoko Estate; Poverty Bay, will take plao» at Gisborne oa December 19th. The estate comprises about 4000 acres. The entries for the New Brigh toil nquatio sports, on Saturday, December sth, close at Mr C J. Marshall's office before 8 p.m. on Saturday next.
Tbo annual sports meeting in connection with the Publio Schools' Amateur Athletic Association will take pi&ce at Lancaster Park on Saturday next. The half-yearly meeting of the Union Rowing Club will bo held at the bbathouse on Wednesday, December Bth, at eight o'clock.
A special general meeting of the Philosophical Institute will be held in the Biological Lecture Theatre at 8 p.m. At this meeting two representatives will be elected on tho Board of Governors of the New Zealand Institute.
A meeting of the Employers' -Assoc-t----tiorrwill be held at the office, Cashel street, this evening, at eight o'clock.
