ADDINGTON.
The Addington fete was resumed yesterday at two o'clock, when the presentation of prizes and certificates for the various competitions took place. Mr Bowden, the Chairman of the School Committee, occupied the chair, and was supported by Mr H. C. Lane, the secretary of the Education Board, Mr Elliott, headmaster of the School of Art, Mr Seay, headmaster - of the school, and Misses Shirtcliffe and Beck,
the chairwoman and secretary respectively of the Ladies' Committee. Mr Lane was then called upon to address the children. In doing so lie stated that the work of tiae school ;ts displayed in the exhibition room had pleased him exceedingly, and -without wishing to detract from the work of other schools, he could cay that the work of the Aldington school compared more than favourably with any work he had previously eeen. He was specialty impressed by the manual work, such as modelling, brushdrawing, and wood carving. He eulogised the zeal of the fcrchool Committee in keep ing the school and grounds in such excellent order, and in providing such, a splendid swimming bath lor the children.
