THE CAPE CABLE.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TE"__l_GnA___.) WELLINGTON, January 12. Ths position with regard to the Cape cable is that the Agents-General for Victoria and New South Wales have been instructed to sign _-.ii agrc-ement with the Eastern Extension Company supplementary to that of April lust, under which thos? colonies will get the bnnefit of the reduced rates from the- Ist of February, and a grant of £2000 for the Cape cable" will be done away with. It is considered probable that New Zealand will join in the arrangement.
