THE THREATENED DEPORTATION OF A 3IISSIONARY CONFIRMED.

Dr. Brown, General Secretary of the Wesleyan Board of Alissions, has received confirmation cf ths news sent to the Right Hon. Mr Seddon, relative to the threatened deportation of a missionary from Fiji. Advices which hare come from the Chairman of tlie Fiji Wesleyan District include copies of letters addressed to him by the Colonial Secretary of Fiji. These contain complaints against one of the missionaries, and request his removal from the district. The accusation is that he is actively engaged ,in a political campaign amongst the natives, with the ostensible object of persuading them to entertain the proposals for federation with New Zealand. The matter will receive the earliest attention of the Aiis-sion Board. Tha missionary in question. Dr. Brcwn says, emphatically denies the truth of the statements made against him on tho authority of a native witness, and he asks that a full inquiry should be made.
