PIGEON FLYING.
On Saturday a race In connection with ti* Christchurch Homing Society was flown from Invercargill. The winner of the race ■was Mr A. Stewart's Endure, who completed the journey (291 miles 1745 yards) in Yhrt 33min 68sec. This beats the previous beet record by about 20min. Th« number of yards flown per minute by the first ten bird* !• as follows: —Mr Stewart's Endure, 1132; Mr Wilson's Waimate, 1127; Mr Pearce'a Gladstone, 1104: Mr Butterfteld'e Jack Tar, 1071; Mr E. Cliff's Defence, 1070; Mr Ohm's Southern, 1043; Mr Cooper's BanMrefcte, 1028; Mr Bull's Happy Thought, 565; Mr Kingsford's No. 764, 979, and Mr Aadtmn's Defiant, 975.
