At a meeting of the shareholders of the Dumbarton Gold Dredging Company, it wee rmolved that it be voluntarily wound up. Mr P. Millar, chairman of directors, said the company should never havo been floatedo. He ■wa» eurpri&ed so many chares had been taken up in a district composed of supposed sensible people. Few of them could have seen the claim. The area. wa» too small, and the leWcta ground several f«et abpvo the river. The vendors hod agreed to take £25 for their paid-up shares, and the company could be wound up at a cost of about Is 6d per share. The directors of tfie Matau and Upper "Wtipori Companies have each declared a dividend of one shilling.
