HOSTING THE AT ASHLEY.

There was a fair attendance of the public tad the children of the district on Monday afternoon on the occasion of hoisting, at the A*hley School, tl>e Union Jack, which had fc«n procured by subscriptions. Mr W. Q. Whiteeides, Chairman of the Committee, presided, and Mrs Whßesides hoisted the Sag, tb» boys saluting it, under direction of Ml , Grant, master, and the school pupHs, tarier Miss Clarkson, singing "The Red, White, and Blue." Apologies were received from Revs. East and Anderson. Addresses Were given by Revs. F. P. Fendall, A. DouH, and A.* Peters, and Messrs G. Bowttft Md J. Ellwood.
