CANTERBURY COLLEGE ESTIMATES.
- «> RECEIPTS AND EXPENDITURE FOR 1901.
At the meeting of the Canterbury College Board of Qov_nw_s yesterday, the estimates of receipts and expenditure for the year ending December 31st, 1901, were under discussion, and with the exception of the Public Library estimates, which were postponed, were adopted. The estimates for tbe Girls' High School showed, estimated receipts £1956 13s, estimated expenditure £1935 7s 6d, balance £21 5s 6d. The following increases were shown:—Assistant, teacher from £70 to £105, part time teacher £100, insurance from £9 19s 3d to £10 7s 6d, —nd the following decreases: — Teacher of class singing, from £35 to £30, teacher of cooking from £50 to £40, teacher of swimming from £25 to £15, examiners' fees from £60 to £30, and prizes from £26 to £16.
The Boys' High School estimates showed, estimated receipts £4722, estimated expenditure £4709, and balance £13. The only increase shown was, head-master from £633 6s 8d to £800. The decre-ises were: Teacher of Sloyd from £140 to £70, examiners' fees from £75 to £40; printing, stationery, books, etc., from £75 to £50; prizes from £40 to £20, grant to sports from £45 to £35.
The Museum estimates showed, estimated receipts £1263 ss, expenditure £1183, and balance £80 ss. The increases shown were:—Taxidermist from £185 to _200, caretaker from £90 to £100, purchases (specimens) from £120 to £150.
The School of Arts estimates showed: — Estimated receipts £1609, expenditure £1321 5s Bd, and balance £279 14s 4d. The increases shown were:—Assistant master from £160 to £180, two students' assistants each from £35 to £45.
The Public Library estimates showed: — Estimated receipts £2562, expenditure £ly_4 2s 2d, and balance £607 17s lOd. The increases shown were:—Sub-librarian from £220 to £245, assistant librarian from £110 to £135, assistant from £70 to £90, assistant from £39 to £52, ca_-e__er from £100 to £115, renewal of standard works from £40 to £55, periodicals and English papers from £75 to £80; reference library, books and binding, from £100 to £125; interest on loan for new reading room, six months, £90: building sinking fund, six months, £50.
The estimate- of the Medical School reserves account showed, e_*timated receipts £4054 12s, expenditure £710, and balance £3344 12s.
