ROAD BOARDS.
AVON. The usual monthly meeting of the Avon Road Board was (held on Monday, the 10th inst. Present—Messrs A. B. Morgan (chairman), M. Hawken, J. Parish, E. Spencer, and J. Dunlop. Mr J. Bccgfeldt wrote asking permission to lay'pipes across 'Hill's 'load front his property to the drain on; IVltiSaveney'e road , . The {request was granted rpjxmaed &c obtains the consent of tbe X&aasnage Board. Dr. Graham Campbell, <m behalf of the Christcflurch Golf Club, wrote ashing if there was any possibility of having something done to the road leading to the club's links from the Shirley road. After consideration ifc was resolved that as the work asked for would not benefit any ratepayers, the Board could not see its way to spend any of its funds there, but would superintend the work if the club would pay the coat. The Papanui Public Library Trustees were granted a remission of rates on the library, as they had no funds. The Eicoarton Road Board wrote enclosing copy of Mr Geo. Harper's opinion on the question of carting nigjEtsoil on the North road. After consideration it waa resolved that nothing could be done in the matter. It was resolved to apply to the Treasury for an instalment of £500 on account of the Papanui loan. Tenders were opened for cleaning the Styx river, and trio* of Gottenney€T Bros, was accepted at £65 per year for three years. It was resolved to nave another fifty yards of shingle placed on the western end of the iLower Styx road.
