THE TRAMWAY CONCESSIONS.
CONFERENCE OF LOCAL BODB3S.
At tihe conference of delegates from ! local bodies at the Linwood Council Chambers, on Tuesday night, in connection wiiu tne tramway concessions and the points' of submission to the arbitrator, there were present—The Mayor of Linwood (chairman), Crs. Jos. . Tay- ' lor and Brunt, Linwood; Crs. Hulbert and Graham, Sumner; the Mayor and Cγ. Jacques, Sydenham ; and . the Mayor of Woolston. After sitting until past ten o'clock, and having discussed, the question in all its bearings, it was resolved—"That in tne opinion of the delegates present all the concession to the Ghristchurch Tramway Company-be placed .before the arbitrator .for adjustment; that if any extension beyond seven years be granted tie local bodft* have the right to purchase at any time by .eivi'g twelve months' notice." The chief points to be placed beforte the'arbitrator it was should b£—Right of purchase, reduction in fares, increased speed, improved motors and improved service generally, ■ more frequent trams, watering the line, rent, say, on a basis of £100 per mile, penalty for nonexecution of repairs when notice given. The Conference adjourned until the 24th inst., at sight p.m. I
