PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr and Mrs Marcus returned from Wellington by the Rotorua yesterday, Mr G. Capper returned from Nelson by the lame steamer. Mr S. McCaughey, of New South Wales, is in town. Mr and Mrs Colebrook, of London, arrived in town yesterday. .Mr F. W. Watt, of New South Wales, and Mr Pahey, of Queensland, are in town. Mr and Mrs F. B. Freehill, of London, are in town. Mr W. L. Meek, of Wellington, and Mr G. Woolhoun are in town. Mr and Mrs McLean left for the South on Saturday. Mr and Mre N. Knox are in town. Mr E. Herring left for Alford Forest Saturday. Mr A. Todd and Mr McLennon left for the north on Saturday. Mr and Mrs J. Duthio, jun.,left for the north on Saturday. Mr Van Senden and Mr and Master Pierpoint loft for the south on Saturday. Mr and Mrs J. Beaumont and Mr C. Gaunt left for the north on Saturday. Passengers by Saturday's express south included Captain Mitchell, of the Dunedin Firo Brigade, Dr. Palmer, Messrs W. R. Cook, J. B. Fisher, and F. W. Thompson. Mr and Mrs Weston arrived from the south by the express on Saturday night. The Rev. S. J. Baker was also a passenger. Air C. J. Reakes, Government Veterinary Surgeon, was also a passenger. Mr E. B. Cargill arrived by the same tciin. Mr C. Dalgety arrived from the south by Saturday night's express. Mr P. C. Neill, of Dunedin, came north by the same train. Mr J. Dean? was also a paeseager. The Rev. H. H. and Mrs Mathiai have returned to Kaiapoi from their visit to the Lakes, at Queenstown.
