JUNIOR CUP MATCHES.
The contest between the Midland and Lancaster Park teams was resumed at Hagley Park on Saturday, when the Midland continued batting, and they were not disposed of until they had made 507, which total is a record for Canterbury. R. W. Barry, who had made 157 not out on the first day, increased his score to 267 not out, which is the second highest individual score made in New Zealand. He gave two or three chances, but his display was nevertheless a good one. J. G. Prebble made 74, O'Farrell 29, C. Prebble 26, and E. Johnston 20. The Park tried ten bowlers. The latter scored 41 for the loss of four wickets, Mullins contributing 13 and Toomer 11. The game will be continued during the week. In the Junior Cup contest College v United, the United raised their total from 318 for five wickets to 393. Martin increased his score to 128, Jameson made 35, and Russell 12 not out. Fryer took three wickets for 44 runs. The College have lost five wickets for 168; Lindsay 46 not out, Ovcrtou 25 not out, Blunden „9, Wallace 18, and A. W. Cook 12. The game will be continued at five o'clock to-morrow.
