DAIRY PRODUCE.
Tho butter exhibits were excellent in qu-vlity, and the cool weather enabled them to appear to the very best advantage. There were only two exhibits in the fancy class, a thing which is to be regretted, as in former years some very pretty designs were sent in. The cheese as a whole was good, well-made and of excellent flavour. The judges' award of points was as under (the maximum being 100) :—Cheese made prior to Ist August, 1897—Inchclutha Dairy Factory 91i, do (second exhibit) 90, Stirling Dairy Factory 93J, do (second exhibit) 92£. The first and second prize went to the Stirling Factory in this class. In the class for cheese made since the Ist August the points were as follows:—lnchclutha Factory 88, Okain'a Bay Factory 83£, Omimi Factory 93, F. Perham 92J, F. Perham (second exhibit) 91J, Stirling Dairy Factory 92, Stirling Dai»y Factory (second exhibit) 93, Mrs Savage 37 J, D. Savage 91, R. M. Spurr 84$. The prizes went as under : —Omimi Factory 1, Stirling Factory 2. In the class for cheese adapted for export the prizes were awarded—Omimi Factory 1, Stirling Factory 2. Some excellent honey was exhibited by Messrs Doyle and D maid, which in the catalogue was classed . under dairy produce.
