POLICE FORCE COMMISSION.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION" TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, November 11. The Police Force Commission of Enquiry commenced its sitting in Auckland to-day, Mr Kenny, S.M., presiding. After a consultation it was decided that the proceedings ehould be open to the Press. The only case to be enquired into in Auckland is that ot Inspector Emerson, of Hawke's Bay, oeainst whom a certain charge has been laid. Those present at the enquiry were Inspector Emerson md hjs counsel, Mr J. A. Tole, Mr C. E. Button who appeared for the Prohibition party, Mr H&seldea representing theAuckland Prohibition League, and also two witnesses, Mr Wm. Cooper, barrister, formerly a magistrate at Samoa, end Mr Adam Henderson, shipbuilder. Mr Kenny said that written statement* had been made by the captain and steward of the steamer Dingadee regarding Inspector Emerson. He would read these statements, which would enable both sides to consider the position better. Hβ would then proceed to take evidence to-morrow. The enquiry was adjourned till to-morrow morning. The witnesses withdrew, and Mr Kenny then read the statements privately to counsel for the respective partiee.
