Drunkenness.—For this offence a first offender w-is lined 5s and coats, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Sabina Murphy received a similar sentence. She was also charged with having destroyed an apron, value ss, and a jacket, value 4s 6d, the property of Martha Ann Swindell, the police station matron. Accused was fined 10s, and ordered to pay for the articles destroyed, iv default fourteen days' imprisonment.
Illegally on Premises.—Thomas William Parker was charged with having been illegally on the premises of Mis Amelia Brown, Aberdeen street. The accused had, while drunk, gone round to Mrs Brown's house at about 4.30 on Sunday morning and threatened to break the door in unless admitted. The accused said he had mistaken the house. He was fined fis for drunkenness, with an alternative of twentyfour hours' imprisonment, and on the second charge was sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labour.
