LANCASTER PARK ELEVEN V SYDENHAM THIRTEEN.

This match was continued on Saturday in fine weather, and on a good wicket. The Sydenham men had made 74, and the Park 54 for eight wickets. On the latter resuming Fowke was bowled at once, but Bates soon became aggressive, and hit the bowling all over the ground. Cooke also hit well, and the partnership more than doubled the score. Bates was at last dismissed by a splendid catch at deep mid-offby Orchard, who was fielding substitute, the innings closing for 112. The Sydenham second innings was no more successful than the first, for the batsmen were quite unable to negotiate Wijding, who bowled splendidly and with a nice off break. The Park fielding was first class. The Lancastrians soon knocked off the 35 required to win, only losing one wicket; Cooke, who had to leave, being given permission to bat again if necessary. The Park thus won by nine wickets. The following are the scores-:— SYDENHAM. First innings ...' ... M 74 Second Innings. R. Halley, b Wilding ... _ 13 J. Savage, b Wilding .. C.
