CULVERDEN WETHER SALE.
Yesterday at the Amuri saleyards, at Culverden, there was an entry of 8500 sheep. The attendance of buyers was limited. Owing to the prevailing dryness of the weather, and the sheep not being of the usual good quality, the sale was somewhat languid. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Mr.Calcutt auctioneer) sold, on account of Mr A. Macfarlane, Achray, 54 fat crossbred wethers at 10s 2d, 139 fat crossbred ewes 6s lid ; on account of Hawkswood station, 1856 eight and six-tooth merino wethers at 2s 6d. Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Mr Archer auctioneer) sold, on account of Balmoral, 1000 full mouthed merino wethers at 2s 4d, and 755 at 2s 3d, also 895 halfbred freezing wethers at 10s 6d. Messrs H. Matson and Co. sold, on account of Mr W. O. Rutherford, Montrose, 800 six and eighttooth merino Avethers at 4s 3d and 350 at 4s. Messrs Pyne and Co. sold, on account of Mr P. Trolove, Woodbank, 500 four and six-tooth crossbred wethers at 8s 3d, 235 at 8e and 175 merino wethers at Is 9d: on accouut of Mr G. E. Parsons, Kaikoura, 240 crossbred four-tooth wethers and maiden ewes at 8s Id, 230 crossbred two-tooths at 6s 8d and 150 four-tooth ewes and wethers at 6s 6d; 300 four-tooth merino wethers were offered on account of the Culverden Estate, but were passed at 3s 6d. Mr Tabart offered, on account of St. Leonards, 1000 two-tooth crossbred ewes and wethers, but passed them in at 8s 3d.
