AKAROA COUNTY COUNCIL.
An ordinary meeting of the Akaroa Council was "held at Duvaucholles on January 4t'a. Present—Ur Aasou (chairman), aud Mesara Symes, White, ifleintog, Mason and Hay, Correspondence was received from the member toe tho district, euclosiog a lottos from the Minister of Lauds wUh referonoo to Bosorvo 1259, to tho effocb that Mt Thomas Brooks had mado no claim ugainst tho reaervo, and further that no claim would be outeruiued by tho Department. An applioatiou wua received from Mr Q. J. Black for a grant towards the oreotion of a jotty at Lucau' Bay. Iv was raaolved thas tl»o Council had no power to accede to Mr Ulack'a request. Tho question of free atorag* in conneotion, with tho VVaiuut wharf was left ia bh« hands of the Chairman to arrange with the Wharf Committee. Au auctioneer's liconee was grunted to Mr Latter, of Barry's Bay. It wob resolved that a alaacjUtorinj*' license should be granted to Mc Coop, of Little River, when the necessary formalities had boeu complied with. .
The Engineer reported thab the aurf&oe* moo ou tho main road could be spared during graeeeeedmg. The whole of the.work* uudor the dairy factory grant were now Quiuhed, and appHoation would ba made to thu Chief Surveyor for payment! in full. The balance of the con tract monoy could be paid to Little River, LoiJou'a Bay and Okain'a Bay Road Boarde. TbO ( Lake Forsyth drainage eohemo had beon pushed on; tho questions brought up at last) meeting in conueotion with reclaimed land, &c, had been attended to, and wen now in the hands of the Department of Lands and Survey. The railway engineer* had inspected the proposed site {or tue per*, manent works at Lake Forsythi end daplioato plans, speoifioatione, &0,, were now ia the hands of the Minister for Railways, Oα the proposition of Mr Masok, seconded by Mr JJav, it was resolved— *• That a public meeting be held on tho 7th March to coo* eider the Boheme, and that a poll of the ratepayers for tho raising of a £2000 loan be taken on the 21st of Mar oh, tenders for the works to be called immediately after* \vard»." Acaounts, amounting to £219, were pasted for payment.
