CHRISTCHUBCH. Monday, Deobmbeb 30. (Before H. W. Bishop, Esq;, S.M.) Dbunkenness.—Charles Augnstuß Fisher, Mary Moxham and Patrick MoGinn were eaob fined ss, or twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Patrick Faull, for being drunk in charge of a horse and trap, was fined 10s f or three days' imprisonment, and consenting to a prohibition order one waa made againsD him to operate in the Christohurcb, Avon and Biccarton districts. Kate Moore, for drunkenness, was fined 10s, or forty-eight hours' imprisonment, and for behaving in a disorderly manner was sent to gaol for two months. Assault and Damage.—William Powell was charged with having, on the 28th of December, at Lumb's Lane, Christchuroh. damaged various articles of furniture ana clothing belonging to Samuel Hensley. Hβ was also charged with having assaulted and beaten Beatrice Alice Clayton. From the evidence, it appeared that the accused met Clayton and went to her home, where,an altercation took place and he smashed the furniture, &c, and assaulted the woman, who had to go to the Hospital. On the fireO charge Powell was fined 20a and ordered to pay 40s damages, or in default one montb imprisonment. On the second charge he was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment. Bobbing a Mate.—John William*, alias John Allen, alias James Turner, alias John Brown, wae charged with having on the 25th of December, at Aylesbury, stolen a Waterbury watch, a pair of shoes, one razot and strop, and a quautity of clothing, value £2 ss, the property of Timothy Sullivan. Accused pleaded "guilty." Chief Detective Henderson stated that the facts of the cast were that complainant and accused were swagging it together and got a shake down at Ay lea oury- Pα the following morning the complainant when he awoke misted hie mate and his property. He communicated with the police. Complainant found some of his property in a second-hand dealer , * in Chriatchurch, and one of his shirts was on i the baok of Williams when arrested. Accused was sentenced to six months' imprisonment.
