The usual monthly meeting was held on October 3rd. Present —Mr H. Manhiro (Chairman), and Messrs D. Handiaide* aud J. Hocking. Correspondence was read— From the Sydenham Borough Council, giving an estimate of the cost of regradiug Jerrold atreet, and forming a footpath ou the south side. From Mr He'vitt, about footpath in Selwyn street. From Land and Income Tax Department, stating that a voucher for tho balance of subaidy for 1894 5 had been seat to tho Treasury to the Board's account. Tho Clerk was directed to acknowledge Mr Hewitt's letter and state that the path referred to would he attended to when required. In reference to letter from Sydenham Borough Council, it was moved—"That the replies from property owners in Jerrold street are so unsatisfactory that the Board cannot Bee their way to undertake the work of forming a footpath under the conditions offered, and the re-grading of the street be postponed until a full meeting of the Board." In reference to the lotter from ratepayers in Dunn street, it was decided to inform them that the Board cannot expend money on roads nob conveyed to the Board. Accounts for £18 16s Id wore passed for payment. The foreman reported that a culvert -.ear Stack's road was brokeu ; he was instructed to repair it immediately. The ranger's report was read, and after consideration it was agreed—" That should tho raneer in carrying out his duties find it necessary to take any case into court, and through any technicality lose it, the Board will indemnify him."
