DIOCESAN SYNODS.
* . - - AUCKLAND. (FRKBS IeSOOIATION SKLaG&OC.) AUCKLAND, October 19. At the sitting of the Diocesan Synod Mr Templar altered his former motion re the order of the Church Service to the fallowing :—" That this Synod respectfully mggeits to the Bishoo of thisJProvineial Church the desirability of making some Further modification in the service of the Church, with a view to ensure greater uniformity in the celebration of those services, md of declaring that no variation from iuthorised modifications will be allowed in Future." Mr Andrews moved, as an amendment, "That the modifications at the service already authorised by & resolution of the Genetal Synod in 1871, gave ample latitude, which nught not to ba increased." Canon Nelson, Archdeacon Willis, Dr. Purchas, and the Rev. Mr Hawkes urged thac the motion *nd the amendment should be rejected. Ihe motion and the amendment were put in succession, and lost on the voices. The greater portion of the evening sitting was taken up with the consideration of the actuarial report on the pension tund. Statistics had been carefully drawn up and submitted to Mr Mori is Fox, the Government Actuary, who furnished an exhaustive report. The Pensions Board report, embodying that of the Actuary, was adopted. Ihd first clause stated the total funds amount to £15,630 0a lid, made up as follows:—Clergy sick fund, £7197 4s 6d ; clergy pension fund, £1559 lls lid ; clergy widows' and orphans' fund, £5113 23 Id; Waipu emergency f aud, £303 2a ; and contingent fund, £1707 ss.
