The case of Ehrenfreid and another v Kenny and others ia proceeding. This is an appeal from the • decision of Mr J ustice CoaoUy refusing a mandamus bo the Thames Licensing Committee to grant a license in respect of the Empire Hotel at the Thames. The appellants are the owner ud the late licensee of the hotel, and the respondents the members of the Licensing Committee. The poll re licenses at the election early in the year was void, and the Committee refused the license to the Empire Hotel at its first meeting. The, contention for the appellants is that the poll being void, all existing licenses must be renewed, though they could be cancelled afterwards for good cause. It was also sontended that on the facto the Committee had exercised xto discretion, and-there was no ground for the refusal. The case is being heard before the Chief Justice and Judges Richmond, Williams, Denniston, and Conoily. Latex. Argument for the appellant in the. case of Ehrenfried v Kenny and others was not concluded this afternoon, when the Coart adjourned till Monday morning.
