The monthly meeting of this Board was held on Monday, the sthi_s.. Mes_rs Bailey, Taylor, and Carr. Apologies for unavoidable absence were accepted from Messrs Marsh and Carpenter. Mr.Bailey was voted to the chair. Before commenciqg the business Mr Taylor moved an adjournment of the meeting until the evening, to enable members to attend the funeral of John Haskett. who had for many years proved himself a faithful servant of the Board as carter. On resuming a letter was read from Mr C. L. Davis, asking the Board to sanction the formation-of an open crossing on Factory road, near the freezing works. The work having been snggeated to the Council some time back, the clerk was directed to convey the Board's assent to the proposal, subject to the usual conditions. A letter was read from the Selwyn County Conccil', requesting cer-" tain information to be sent to the Commissioner of Ta-jes, in secure the payment of subsidy for th_~"cnrr_nt year. The" Clerk repotted having; complied with this request.' The Surveyor's report "was considered, and the following resolutions passed :. —. That the Chrifltchnrch Meat Company be informed that unless the nuisance now existing on Foreman's road caused by refuse water from the Islington Freezing Works is abated within fourteen days, legal steps will betaken in the matter. That certain, carters now in the habit of leaving heaps of sand and boulders on road* nearthe Waimakariri be cautioned against a repetition of the offence. The Board de-» cided to cease purchasing birds' heads for the season. ' The number purchased since the commencement of November is 1120 dozen larke, sparrowß, Sec,a.ud 320 blackbirds. Accounts amounting to £35 3s ild having bean passed, the meeling adjourned.
